11/6/06, the living room of my duplex: Last summer in Vermont, some Pennsylvanians taught me how to say "you guys" instead of "y'all". In my opinion, "you guys" sounds a lot more sophisticated and a lot less ignorant. I mean, "you guys" is in the dictionary as a real word. "Y'all" isn't. Maybe I'm just being elitist, though. Maybe I'm only favoring "you guys" because that's the expression I use. Our vocabulary doesn't necessarily have to come from a book, I guess; we can make it up as we go. I'll make up some words right now as examples. "Carntenna" could be short for "car antenna". That's not a very good one. Hmmm. Coming up with new words is harder than I thought it would be.
