6/23/06, a dorm room at the University of Vermont: Here's something fun to do: watch one of the movies you liked as a kid after yo uare older. I watched Mighty Ducks 2 (D2, for those of us who are hip) the other night and realized it was chock full of racial stereotypes and improbable situations. For example, when Mendoza, one of the new Ducks, is introduced, a Spanish trumpet lick plays in the background. The Texan is always roping things and talking with a Southern drawl. Also, what middle school ice hockey coach is going to get his own endorsement deals, even if he is coach of the Junior Goodwill Games Team USA? Somehow none of these things seem odd when you watch a movie like this as a kid.
