"Fred"

This is something that used to be in my AIM profile.

This is a story about Fred. Fred was an everyday, run-of-the-mill, Jack-in-the-box kind of American. He is the kind of man that all Europeans and other foreigners see when they think of as the American dream. At least, Fred WAS that kind of man.

One day, Fred found a very rare and valuable coin on the street. After picking it up, he took it home and called the nearest coin expert. After auctioning the coin off to some lawyer with a very bad haircut, he bought himself a new house, and also a badly needed haircut.

For the next thirty years, Fred was always finding conveniently positioned items that brought him great fortune and fame. When asked about his strange ability, Fred was quoted as saying, "Well, I dunno, I guess I'm just lucky." But the truth is, Fred didn't REALLY know why he was such a lucky guy all of the sudden. At least, he DIDN'T know.

The truth is, no one knows why. No one ever will.
