1/4/07, my old room in my parents' house: There are a variety of ways to eat a waffle. The first decision is whether or not to butter. The second decision is when to divide the waffle and pour the syrup. Most people seem to pour the syrup into the waffle squares first, then cut the waffle as they go, eating it piece by piece. Others, such as myself, like to cut (or tear) the waffle into pieces first, shove them into a mound, and pour a generous coating of syrup on top. The latter method facilitates faster shoveling of waffle pieces into one's face but might be considered tasteless by anyone with whom you choose to dine. I think it's worth the tradeoff, though. A good waffle mound outweighs the disappointment of most any dinner companion. In fact, a good waffle mound outweighs almost anything. I love waffle mounds!
