8/24/06, outside of my university's math building: I really hate Southern summers. In fact, they are the main reason I want to move to the North when I get a real job. I spent two months in Vermont one summer. The temperature was a few degrees lower, but the main advantage was the significant difference in humidity. Remember learning about supersaturation in grade-school science class? I don't remember what the word meant, but I'm pretty sure it describes the state of air in the South during all seasons of the year. The one disadvantage of living in the North is that those people don't put air conditioning in all of their buildings. I consider this crazy, since air conditioning is probably my favorite invention of all time. Maybe the reason so many Northerners are whining liberals is that they are so darn hot during the summers and freeze to death during the winters.
