3/23/06, my dorm room - The new U.S. quarter is pretty awesome, compared to the old one. For starters, compare the fronts of both quarters. On the old quarter, the word "LIBERTY" is featured prominently on the top. This gives people the false impression that the goal of this nation is to preserve our freedom. Thankfully, the U.S. Mint wised up: in the new quarter, "LIBERTY" is printed in smaller type and placed next to Washington's Adam's apple. Also, the year at the bottom of Washington's neck was replaced with the words "QUARTER DOLLAR." This helps people remember how much this coin is worth right now (no guarantees for coin's worth in ten years). The back of the coin has undergone some changes, too. They moved "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" to the front to remind us all who's boss more often. Also, they got rid of that boring eagle holding those boring arrows and replaced him with all kinds of different states and the crazy people/places/things/events that have come out of them.
