8/18/07, the business building at my school: My family recently switched cell phone carriers, and our new carrier didn't support my old phone. My old phone was great. It didn't have any unnecessary features like a music player or a subpar camera, and, most importantly, it didn't flip open. When I went to the new carrier's website (Verizon) to select a new model, I was disappointed to find that the only phones which didn't flip open were the Blackberries. Doesn't it make more sense to put the numbers on the front of the phone rather than having to flip it open? Sure, you may accidentally call random numbers when you bump your phone in your pocket against something, but that's why phones have the key lock feature.

Actually, I think the real reason I don't like flip phones is that I used to be the only one who didn't have one, and that made me feel special or superior to all the technophiles around me. They think they're so cool with their flip phones. Psh.
