Can you explain the function of the spleen?
That bit of knowledge I would like to glean.
Is it brown or blue or neon green?
Please describe what the word really means
and reveal to me the workings of the spleen.
The liver - that I know a lot about,
its function clearly known without a doubt.
If and when alcohol you drink
and maybe even if you drink ink
the liver will surely push those toxins out.
Lo - the appendix,
which among the organs sticks
out like a penguin in a crowd of grizzly bears.
Its awkwardness exists because
no one really knows what it does,
but, frankly, I don't think anyone really cares.
Let us not forget the heart,
understood to be the most integral part
of the crucial cardiovascular system.
