This quote does not make sense as well. Looking into the sunlight could blind you or otherwise damage your sensative eye tissue, while seeing the shadows would also put strain on you eyes causing damage of its own.

Who's to say that there will even be shadows in the first place anyway. The planet Namek has three suns so that it is never nighttime. Similar planets have anywhere to ten stars that wich they orbit.

The obvious solution is to close your eyes and forget about the quote entirely.
