Not unless you are a large mass connected to the main continent by an ithmuth. That Ithmus could deteriorate and leave you as a solitary mass of land known to us comman organisms as an Island.

Islands are cool. You can do almost anything if you have a little Island all to yourself. You could build a huge nuclear missile facility and hold the entire earth hostage with you nuclear capabilities.

Or you could gain inner peace and learn to do yoga the possobilities are endless. Anything can be accomplished with an island of your own.
